For over 15 years, Chargemap has been supporting electric mobility across Europe. During this time, the market has evolved significantly, and so have the expectations of companies electrifying their fleets.
What began as a collaborative map created by enthusiasts has grown into a comprehensive ecosystem serving drivers, businesses, and charging networks throughout Europe.
Today, we are opening a new chapter in our history. A new brand identity to support an ambition that has never been stronger, including for fleet managers.
2009: an idea born from a real-world need
It all started in 2009. Yoann Nussbaumer, founder of Chargemap, became interested in electric cars. Enthusiastic about making the switch, he went looking for charging stations accessible outside his home. But at the time, no tool existed to find them easily.
It was this simple need—knowing where to charge—that gave birth to Chargemap. The idea: to create a collaborative space where drivers could share information about charging stations and help each other charge with peace of mind.
In 2011, a handful of enthusiasts joined him. They scoured the streets, photographed charging stations, and verified that they worked. Everything was documented by hand, station by station. The community gradually took over, and Chargemap grew, driven by those who used it.
This early rigor remains the foundation of the reliability we provide to corporate fleets: verified data, extensive coverage, and a service you can rely on every day.
15 years later: what is Chargemap today?
What started as a collaborative tool for enthusiasts has become a complete charging service, now used by over 3.5 million drivers in 19 European countries.
Charging station map, route planner, multi-network charging card: we have built, step by step, everything needed to charge with peace of mind. This foundation directly benefits companies, which gain access to over a million compatible charging points in Europe with a single tool.
Chargemap is an ecosystem that serves three types of electric mobility stakeholders:
- Chargemap for drivers : find a charging station, plan a route, and charge anywhere in Europe.
- Chargemap Business for companies : manage charging for their fleet and employees, both on the road and at home, with clear billing.
- Chargemap Partners for charging networks : optimize and develop their infrastructure.
Fifteen years after its creation, Chargemap remains an independent company, still led by its founder, with an undiminished ambition: to continue growing and innovating in the service of electric mobility in Europe.
Why are we evolving our brand today?
The electric mobility market has undergone a profound transformation. Electric vehicles are becoming mainstream, charging networks are expanding, and companies are electrifying their fleets on a large scale. Fleet managers are no longer just looking for charging solutions; they expect cost control, transparent billing, and frictionless management.
Our ambition has grown alongside this market. Today, it goes beyond just an app or a charging card. Chargemap is the benchmark that is accelerating today's electric mobility and inventing tomorrow's, for drivers, businesses, and charging networks alike. We have held this ambition since day one. But it deserved to be clearly expressed, with an identity that matches our mission.
From the beginning, we have sought to simplify and improve the reliability of charging. The goal is clear: to enable every driver to travel in an electric vehicle with peace of mind, free from constraints. We are carrying out this fundamental work with the entire charging ecosystem, which has made significant progress. Today, we are evolving Chargemap's visual identity to support the next phase of our history, explains Yoann Nussbaumer, CEO of Chargemap.
What’s changing: a new visual identity to support this ambition
This new milestone deserved an identity that reflects it. We have evolved our brand to mirror what Chargemap has become: a more mature, more ambitious company capable of supporting drivers, businesses, and charging networks.
New logo, new colors, new typography: every element has been designed to build a brand that is clearer, more consistent, and capable of supporting our growth in the years to come.
Chargemap Business and Chargemap Partners now share the same identity: the same symbol (the rounded plug icon) and the same name (CHARGEMAP), differentiated by their sub-signatures. It is a way to make visible what we are: a unique ecosystem serving the entire charging chain.
This evolution is primarily visual. It has no impact on your access, your contracts, or your point of contact: there is total service continuity, and you do not need to take any action.
This identity does not change who we are. It expresses our ambition more clearly: to be the benchmark for electric charging in Europe.
What isn't changing: our mission and our values
Our identity is evolving. Our convictions, however, remain the same: Community, Trust, and Independence. Our mission remains unchanged: to simplify electric charging to allow everyone to drive an electric vehicle with peace of mind, from individual drivers to corporate fleets.
The community remains at the heart of everything we do. It is the millions of drivers who report charging stations, share their experiences, and help each other every day that make Chargemap so valuable. Your employees benefit from this living data every single day.
Our independence and our commitment to quality remain the pillars of how we build Chargemap. We are not tied to any specific charging network, which guarantees your fleet broad access and objective advice.
This is just the beginning
This new identity marks the start of a new chapter for Chargemap. It will be gradually rolled out across all our products, services, and materials through the end of 2026. But the most important part is what comes next.
We will continue to develop new services, improve the charging experience, and support even more companies across Europe. Since 2009, one thing has never changed: our desire to make electric mobility simpler and more accessible. For fleet managers, this translates into clearer tools and more stress-free management.
